Progress made on ASEAN human rights mechanism

Participants at recent workshop universally agreed on the need for the proposed regional human rights body, however, no consensus was reached on its powers or composition.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights is inviting national human rights institutions to contribute to a detailed analytical study on climate change and human rights.

Jurists call for right to the environment  

With climate change predicted to have catastrophic effects on the region's physical and social landscape, the Advisory Council of Jurists has released a report recommending a comprehensive framework be established to promote a right to a healthy environment.
